Euro Coins ( Definitive Issues )

The euro came into existence on 1 January 1999.

There are 8 euro coin denominations : 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, €1 and €2.  They have a common reverse, designed by Luc Luycx of the Royal Belgian Mint, portraying a map of EU15.   Each country in the eurozone has its own design on the obverse.

On 1st January 2007, the map on the reverse of 10c, 20c, 50c, €1 and €2 coins were extended to whole Europe.
