Malaysia Commemorative Coins 2013 : Armed Forces 80th Anniversary

Bank Negara Malaysia issuedcommemorative coins in conjunction with the 80th Anniversary of Malaysian Armed Forces. The origin of the Malaysian Armed Forces dates back to the formation of the Malay Regiment on 1 March 1933, which later officially known as the Malaysian Armed Forces with the formation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963. Eight decades have passed which saw the Malaysian Armed Forces evolve to a Full Spectrum Force.




Specifications of the commemorative coins are as follows:

Gold Commemorative Coin (proof)
This proof coin is made of gold with 999.9 purity and weighs 7.96 grams. It has a face value of RM100 and will be sold at RM 1,800 a piece. The mintage quantity is 500 pieces.
 


Silver Commemorative Coin (proof)
This proof coin is made of Sterling Silver with 92.5 purity and weighs 21.00 grams. It has a face value of RM 10 and will be sold at RM150 a piece. The mintage quantity is 1,000 pieces.


 
Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U) Commemorative Coin
The Nordic Gold (B.U) coin has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM10 each. The mintage quantity is 25,000 pieces.


Obverse 
The three divisions of the Malaysian Armed Forces are depicted by, namely, the fighter jet to represent the Royal Malaysian Air Force, the tank to represent the Malaysian Army and the submarine to represent the Royal Malaysian Navy. The words “ULANG TAHUN KE-80 ANGKATAN TENTERA MALAYSIA” appear on the upper circumference of the coin while the years 1933 – 2013 denoting the 80 year anniversary of the Malaysian Armed Forces are inscribed on the lower circumference.

 
Reverse 
The logo of the Malaysian Armed Forces appears in the centre of the coin. The words “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” as the issuing authority of the commemorative coin is featured on the upper circumference of the coin, while the face value of the coin is inscribed on the lower circumference.

Malaysia Commemorative Coins 2013 : Malaysia 50th Anniversary

Bank Negara Malaysia issued commemorative coins in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Formation of Malaysia. Malaysia Day is celebrated on 16 September every year to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian federation which comprises 11 states in Malaya and two states in Borneo, namely Sabah and Sarawak.


Specifications of the commemorative coins are as follows:

1. Gold Commemorative Coin (proof)
This proof coin is made of gold with 999.9 purity and weighs 7.96 grams. It has a face value of RM100 and will be sold at RM 1,800 a piece. The mintage quantity is 750 pieces.

2. Coloured Silver Commemorative Coin (proof)
This is the first coloured coin issued by Bank Negara Malaysia. The coloured Jalur Gemilang is placed on the obverse side of this coin. This proof coloured coin is made of Fine Silver with 999 purity and weighs 31.10 grams. It has a face value of RM10 and will be sold at RM200 a piece. The mintage quantity is 10,000 pieces.

3. Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U) Commemorative Coin
The Nordic Gold (B.U) coin has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM10 each. The mintage quantity is 25,000 pieces.




Obverse
The coloured Jalur Gemilang is situated in the centre of the coin. The words “PERAYAAN HARI MALAYSIA” and “50 Tahun” are on the upper circumference of the coin while the words “16 September 1963 – 2013” are inscribed on the lower circumference.

Reverse
The centre of the coin features the National Crest and the map of Malaysia. The words “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” as the issuing authority of the commemorative coin are featured on the upper circumference of the coin, while the face value of the coin is inscribed on the lower circumference.

Malaysia Commemorative Coins 2013 : Muzium Negara 50th Anniversary

In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Muzium Negara, Bank Negara Malaysia issued commemorative coins. Muzium Negara (the National Museum) was officially opened on 31 August 1963 by the third Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, Tuanku Syed Putra Al-Haj ibni Al-Marhum Syed Hassan Jamalullail.

The front façade of Muzium Negara (the National Museum) is in the centre of the coin. The words “JUBLI EMAS MUZIUM NEGARA” and years 1963 – 2013 denoting the 50 year anniversary of Muzium Negara are inscribed on the upper circumference of the coin.


Reverse

The mural from Muzium Negara is in the centre of the coin. The words “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” as the issuing authority of the commemorative coin is featured on the upper circumference of the coin, while the face value of the coin is inscribed on the lower circumference.
